Location: Fir Park Stadium (with coaching delivery requirements across Lanarkshire)

Contract: Full-time, 35 hours per week; 3 Years

Purpose of the Role

Motherwell FC Community Trust is seeking an ambitious, organised and passionate Senior Football Development Officer to lead the delivery and development of our football programmes. This exciting role will oversee a diverse array of programmes, including our Community Teams, Holiday Camps, Walking Football, Talent Development Programme, 3v3 Programme and a range of adult football opportunities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring high-quality experience for participants, supporting coaches and volunteers, driving programme growth and contributing to the strategic development of football participation across Lanarkshire. The Senior Football Development Officer will provide leadership across football delivery and act as a source of support, guidance and expertise for colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, delivery and ongoing development of the Trust’s football programmes.
  • Support, mentor and develop coaches and volunteers to ensure high quality, participant-centred football experiences across all programmes.
  • Oversee the effective operation of Community Teams, including engagement with players, parents, leagues, governing bodies and partner organisations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to drive programme growth, increase participation and identify new opportunities for football development in Lanarkshire.
  • Ensure all football activities are delivered in line with safeguarding, health and safety, equality and governing body requirements.
  • Monitor programme performance, manage administrative processes and contribute to the achievement of organisational objectives and strategic priorities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualification of a UEFA C Licence (or equivalent) in each of the children’s and youth/adult coaching pathways.
  • At least 2 years’ experience of delivering or coordinating football programmes for children and young people in a community, grassroots or club setting.
  • Experience of leading, mentoring and developing coaches and volunteers.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and welfare within youth sport, with the ability to follow, apply and enforce relevant policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality participant experiences.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Applicants must possess the right to work in the UK without employer sponsorship.
  • Holder of a UEFA B Licence.
  • Formal qualification in sports management, coaching, or related discipline.
  • Experience of planning and leading holiday football camps and mass participation events.
  • Experience of working with budgets and programme performance.
  • Experience of using digital tools for administration, communication, registration, and safeguarding.
