This Modern Apprenticeship offers paid employment to a young person with a disability, who is between 16 – 24 years of age and living within the South Ayrshire area, with an interest in working in sport and community initiatives.

This post is specifically for a young person with a disability. Disabilities can be visible or invisible and may affect how a person moves, learns, sees, hears, or thinks.

The role combines on the job learning, with support, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

The successful applicant will be employed on a fixed term 18-month contract, working 25 hours per week, and will work towards achieving the SCQF Level 5 and 6 Business Admin.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the Community Programmes Team, you will support the smooth delivery and administration of Ayr United Football Academy’s sport and physical activity programmes. With guidance and support, your responsibilities may include:

  • Help plan and organise football and multi-sport sessions, holiday camps, school visits, and community events.
  • Look after bookings and keep clear registers for all sessions and events.
  • Help check sports equipment and ensure it is safe to use.
  • Collect and enter information about attendees and the impact of the programme.
  • Help prepare reports for funders and managers.
  • Talk with schools, parents, clubs, and community partners to confirm plans and share updates.
  • Support promotion of activities, including social media posts, flyers, posters, and newsletters.
  • Keep contact lists, databases, and email inboxes tidy and up to date.
  • Help prepare and store forms such as consent forms, risk assessments, and other paperwork.
  • Join staff training, meetings, and development sessions.
  • Follow all health and safety rules, and keep to child protection and safeguarding policies.

The Modern Apprentice will be supported to contribute to meaningful outcomes that align with Ayr United Football Academy’s community objectives and wider sportscotland priorities.

Personal and Professional Development

  • Successfully complete the SCQF Level 5 and 6 Modern Apprenticeship in Business Administration
  • Develop key employability skills including communication, organisation, teamwork, and digital literacy
  • Build confidence through supported workplace learning within a sport-specific environment
  • Gain experience in planning and delivering inclusive physical activity programmes

Increased Participation and Inclusion

  • Help with the organisation and smooth running of sport and activity sessions for children, young people, and adults in South Ayrshire.
  • Support admin tasks to ensure sessions are open, welcoming, and accessible to everyone, including people from underrepresented groups.
  • Assist with paperwork and communication that helps create a safe and friendly environment where all participants feel valued.

Effective Administrative Support

  • Provide accurate and timely administrative support that enables smooth running of community programmes
  • Contribute to the maintenance of detailed attendance and demographic data for sportscotland reporting and internal planning
  • Ensure that all programme documentation is well-organised, compliant, and stored in line with Academy policies

Contribution to Monitoring and Impact Reporting

  • Assist in collecting and presenting data to evidence participation trends, reach, and impact
  • Support the preparation of case studies, feedback summaries, or infographics to demonstrate programme success and social value
  • Help ensure reporting is aligned with funder requirements

Training & Qualification

  • You will receive on-the-job training and support
  • You will work towards achieving a SCQF Level 5 and 6 qualification in Business Administration
  • You will be supported by both the Academy and Enable Works throughout the apprenticeship
