Originating from the Gaelic term ‘machair’, meaning ‘the linking stretch of land that joins the grassy dunes with the shoreline’, The Machrie offers elevated comforts and unforgettable experiences.

Our Mechanic role: We’re looking for responsible, efficient, and skilled Mechanic to maintain, repair, and ensure the smooth running of all mechanical equipment for our hotel, estate grounds, and Championship Links Golf Course. Reporting to our Head Mechanic, you’ll be essential for ensuring team, guests, and members experience a safe, comfortable, and compliant environment and experience the best of what life at Another Place – The Machrie offers.

As our Mechanic you’ll be:

  • Performing regular maintenance and repair on all golf course equipment including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, company owned assets and small engines.
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues with equipment and carrying out repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Developing and implementing a digital preventative maintenance schedule to reduce equipment downtime and prolong the life of company assets.
  • Maintaining a digital inventory of parts and supplies needed for equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Keeping detailed digital records of all maintenance and repairs performed on equipment in a company specified system or location.
  • Identifying defects and worn components.
  • Completing all summer and winter servicing in a timely manner as directed by our Head Mechanic, Asset Manager, or Course Manager.
  • Staying up to date with suppliers, related trades, and modern advances in materials, methods, and machinery in greenkeeping.
  • Adhering to daily machinery changes and requirements as instructed by management.
  • Maintaining workshop cleanliness and organization, ensuring all tools and machinery are stored and handled safely.
  • Conducting daily on-course equipment performance checks.
  • Ensuring that all equipment meets current legislation.
  • Wearing appropriate protective equipment (as needed).
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and providing training on basic machinery operation when required.
  • Inspecting equipment performance on the golf course daily and making necessary adjustments as needed.

The skills you’ll be sharing with us:

  • 3-5 years of experience in turf machinery or mechanical maintenance, preferably in a golf course setting.
  • Proficiency in mechanical repair and maintenance, with knowledge of irrigation systems and turf care practices.
  • Trained in tractor driving and all-terrain vehicle operation.
  • A positive attitude with a cheerful and courteous demeanour.
  • Effective problem solving with a proactive outlook.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
  • Certification in the operation of grinding equipment.
  • Certification in turf maintenance or a related field (desirable).
  • First aid certification (or desire to obtain).
  • Understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and TurfKeeper software for digital maintenance tracking.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, provide clear advice, and foster a positive team environment.

Please note, this is a full-time salaried role working 40 hours per week.
