Glasgow Life is looking for a Marketing and Communications Business Partner (Projects) to join us on a 35 hour full time, fixed term contract for a period up to 31st December 2028. As Marketing and Communications Business Partner (Projects) you will be joining our in-demand Events team as part of a dedicated team supporting the delivery of Glasgow’s commitments to hosting the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and UEFA EURO 2028.

Glasgow Life is the strategic lead for events in the city. The team invests to attract, create and grow major cultural and sporting events. We deliver high-profile annual events, including the Merchant City Festival, Glasgow Mela, the World Pipe Band Championships and Glasgow\’s winter events. We also deliver one-off major events and programmes, most recently delivering the World Athletics Indoors Championships 2024, the inaugural 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships and European Capital of Sport 2023, with planning underway to host Glasgow 2026 and UEFA EURO 2028. Our team are the initial point of contact for events coming to the city. This includes working with local, national and international partners to maximise the economic, marketing and social benefits of events to the city. We aim to position and promote Glasgow as a world-leading event destination boosting the city’s tourism profile, while driving positive impacts and legacies for local communities.

The role:

  • Lead the development and delivery of Glasgow Life’s marketing and communications plans for Glasgow 2026 and UEFA EURO 2028.
  • Act as the main MarComms contact for both events, managing strategic, operational, and reputational communications.
  • Coordinate planning and resourcing with internal teams to ensure consistent, timely, and effective messaging across all channels.
  • Develop and manage messaging toolkits, media materials, and brand assets in alignment with partner frameworks.
  • Represent Glasgow Life at key strategic communications groups and working groups across both events.
  • Plan and deliver integrated marketing campaigns across digital and physical platforms to engage diverse audiences.
  • Manage proactive and reactive media engagement, supporting key milestones and mitigating potential issues.

The Marketing & Communications Business Partner – Projects will lead the development and delivery of targeted internal and service-specific marketing and communications plans to support Glasgow Life’s commitments to the Glasgow 202 Commonwealth Games and UEFA EURO 2028. This role ensures key event messaging is effectively communicated while minimising disruption to business-as-usual (BAU) activity across the organisation. The role will also contribute to wider city communications working collaboratively across stakeholders, including Glasgow 2026 Ltd and Glasgow City Council. The role will continue through to support Glasgow Life’s successful delivery of the city’s hosting of UEFA EURO 2028.

For Fixed Term Roles – If offer is made to internal employee (Glasgow Life or Council Family), at the end of the temporary period, eligible employees, if agreed will have a right to return to a role at their substantive grade within the council family.
