Position: Volunteer Lead & Assistant Coaches (various age groups throughout the club’s pathway)

Location: Edinburgh based

Reporting to: Club Leader

About Us

We are a respected football club committed to developing players’ skills, confidence and enjoyment for the game. We provide structured coaching sessions, participate in full games programs (small sided and competitive) and a supportive environment focused on growth and enjoyment for all participants.

Role Overview

We are seeking committed and passionate Lead & Assistant coaches to support the development of teams within our club’s pathway. The roles focus on delivering engaging training sessions, supporting individual player development and leading/assisting teams at training and matchdays. You’ll work collaboratively with club/team members and parents to create a positive environment where players can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead / Assist in planning and delivering structured, age-appropriate training sessions.
  • Plan and prepare training activities that align with club philosophies and goals.
  • Support players’ technical, tactical, and physical development.
  • Lead / Assist on matchdays including preparation, coaching, and player support.
  • Promote sportsmanship, respect, teamwork and positive behaviour on and off the field.
  • Ensure player safety, wellbeing, and safeguarding at all times.
  • Communicate positively and effectively with players, parents, and club members.
  • Act as a positive role model on and off the pitch.

Person Specification

  • Passion for football and youth development.
  • Reliable and committed to regular sessions.
  • Desire to work under club structure and philosophy.
  • Willingness to learn and develop as a coach.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant SFA Coaching Qualification(s) or UEFA Coaching Qualification(s) (or working towards).
  • Experience coaching children or youth teams.
  • Safeguarding and PVG clearance (or willingness to undergo vetting process).
  • Practical coaching experience within a well-respected football club who have a proven track record of developing and producing excellent people.
  • Support towards coaching qualifications and CPD.
  • Opportunity to make a positive impact in youth football.
  • References for future coaching or employment opportunities.
