Boroughmuir Thistle are the largest female football club in Scotland and are based in Edinburgh. The club has a full pathway for both participation players and performance players. Our senior team achieves in the Scottish Women's Premier League and we are one of eleven clubs in the Scottish FA NextGen Academy programme, yet we are an extremely friendly and supportive club with a real community feel.

We are looking for enthusiastic coaches with great communication skills to work part time in our youth pathway. Coaches will work with our junior 7, 9, or 11-a-side squads. Per squad, there will be two evening sessions of 1.5 hours per week and matches on either Saturday or Sunday mornings. Opportunities to take more than one squad mean potential coaching hours can be between 5 and 10 hours per week as suits. These positions can be voluntary or paid depending on the level of qualification and experience of the candidate. Kit, mentoring, and help with qualifications will be provided. Coaches must live in or near Edinburgh and be available every month apart from July.

The coaching responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, preparing, delivering, and reflecting on sessions for a wide range of age and ability of player.
  • Taking teams on game day.
  • Liaising with parents and parent volunteers.
  • Working and being mentored as part of a team of coaches.
  • Being innovative and sharing ideas.
  • Attending courses for continuous professional development.
