In partnership with sportscotland, West Lothian Council wish to appoint a Community Sport Coordinator on a Fixed Term basis to 31st March 2027 with potential to extend. The position is also available as a secondment opportunity or as an additional post for any existing part-time employee.

The Active Schools and Community Sport team aims to increase activity levels by ensuring there are more opportunities to participate in sport and more people delivering opportunities in schools and the wider community. West Lothian Council are looking for dynamic, well organised individuals with excellent communication skills to work with clubs, hubs and sporting organisations, to maximise inclusive sport opportunities and develop Community Sport Clubs across West Lothian.

The Community Sport Coordinator will:

  • Support the development of CSHs and clubs through a range of services including:
    • Funding support
    • Education and training
    • Developing partnerships
    • Equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Collect data through the ‘Sharing and Learning’ platform and other local monitoring systems to ensure impact is accurately recorded and effective and informed planning takes place.
  • Manage a programme of activity to help strengthen the sporting landscape and support clubs with volunteer recruitment and retention.
  • Have a flexible approach to the working week including evening and weekend work as and when required.
  • Undertake appropriate and continued professional development.
  • Increase opportunities available to help equal access to sport particularly including those experiencing barriers to participation.
  • Support the development and delivery of sportscotland led CSH initiatives and deliver against Sport for Life in West Lothian.
  • Responsibility for identified budgetary management ensuring that any expenditure is appropriate, within allocated budget limits at all times, that accurate financial records are maintained and that the Council’s Standing Orders, Procurement and Financial Regulations are adhered to.
