About Team United
Team United uses the power of football to break down social barriers and provide a platform for neurodiverse young people to flourish. Working with children and young people aged 10-16 (and a 16-24 programme), Team United delivers weekly football sessions, social participation activities, and competitive opportunities such as the Autism League and Autism Scottish Cup.
Role Purpose
To deliver high-quality football coaching sessions that are inclusive, supportive, and tailored to the needs of young people with Autism and other neurodiverse conditions. Sessional coaches will provide a safe, enjoyable, and developmental environment that encourages participation, social connection, and personal growth through football.
Role Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging football sessions for young people aged 10-16 in line with Team United's values of Connect, Flourish, Discover, Shine.
- Create an inclusive environment that supports the social, emotional, and football development of participants.
- Adapt coaching methods to suit a range of abilities, communication needs, and learning styles.
- Promote teamwork, respect, and positive behaviours on and off the pitch.
- Support players to build confidence, social skills, and enjoyment of the game.
- Liaise with parents/carers and Team United staff to ensure appropriate support for participants.
- Contribute to festivals, competitions (e.g. Autism League), and community football partnerships.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.
- Uphold Team United's values and represent the charity professionally at all times.
Person Specification
- Scottish FA coaching qualification (minimum 1.1/1.2 or equivalent).
- Experience of working with children and young people in sport.
- Understanding of inclusive practice and ability to adapt sessions to meet diverse needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and equality of opportunity.
- Experience working with children and young people with Autism or other neurodiverse conditions.
- Knowledge of Para Football and inclusive football structures in Scotland.
- First Aid and Safeguarding training.
Session Information
- Locations: We are currently prioritising coaches who can support our Johnstone, Bellshill, and Bishopbriggs sessions, with opportunities across other community club venues in partnership with Team United.
- Reports to: Regional Coordinator
- Rate of Pay: Competitive sessional rate, dependent on experience and qualifications.
