The Triathlon Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional Chair of the Board of Trustees to lead the charity through the next stage of its development. The Trust exists to help more people experience the benefits of swim, bike and run, particularly those who face barriers to participation. Working across England, Scotland and Wales, the Trust supports community-based activity, inclusive participation and new opportunities for people who may otherwise not have access to the sport.
This is an important moment for the charity. The Trust is developing its role as a national grant-giving organisation, building on its place-based work, and launching new initiatives, including the Pathway to Podium pilot programme, which will provide targeted support for emerging athletes who need help to progress. We are looking for a strategic, collaborative, and influential Chair who can help shape this next chapter. The successful candidate will bring strong governance experience, sound judgement, credibility at Board level and the ability to support fundraising, partnerships, and profile-building.
Being comfortable working with a small but ambitious and growing organisation, the Chair will:
- Lead and support an engaged Board of Trustees
- Help set the Trust’s strategic direction and ensure clear priorities
- Champion the Trust as an ambassador and advocate
- Support fundraising, donor engagement and partnership development
- Ensure strong governance, financial oversight and charitable independence
- Work constructively with British Triathlon while maintaining the Trust’s distinct charitable purpose
This role would suit an experienced Chair, Trustee, senior executive or values-led leader from the charitable, commercial, public, or sporting sectors. You will bring a passion for social impact, inclusion and opportunity through sport and be motivated by the chance to help more people experience the benefits of swim, bike and run.
The Triathlon Trust offers the opportunity to:
- Lead a national charity at a pivotal stage of growth
- Help shape a more inclusive future for swim, bike and run
