Job Title: Community Cricket Activator (CCA)
Employer: Doune & Dunblane Cricket Club (SCIO: SC053064)
Location: Hybrid. Based at The Grazings, Castle Hill, Doune, with school visits across north Stirling (including Doune, Dunblane, Callander, Aberfoyle, and nearby villages).
Hours: 20 hours per week (Part-time. Flexible hours, including school times, daytime Walking Cricket, evenings, and weekends).
Contract: 3-year fixed term (September 2026 – August 2029, with the possibility to extend if both parties agree).
Salary: £15,600 per year.
Reports To: General Manager

About Doune & Dunblane Cricket Club
Formed by a merger in January 2024, Doune & Dunblane Cricket Club is a registered charity and a key part of the local sports community. Named Active Stirling’s 'Club of the Year' in 2025, we are proud to run an inclusive, welcoming club for everyone. Supported by sportscotland, this role will help us build a lasting community engagement programme for everyone.
Purpose of the Role
As the Community Cricket Activator, you will bring cricket to more people across north Stirling. Your main focus will be to get more women and girls playing, expand our work in schools, and grow our daytime Walking Cricket sessions.
Key Responsibilities
Grow the Women’s & Girls’ section by creating fun, welcoming coaching environments.Run weekly Women’s Soft Ball cricket sessions throughout the year (indoor and outdoor).Create smooth pathways so girls keep playing cricket as they move from primary to secondary school.
2. School & Community Outreach
Expand our coaching into more local primary schools.Plan and deliver fun taster sessions linked to the school curriculum.Work with headteachers, Active Schools Coordinators, and parents to help children move from school sessions to club membership.
3. Inclusive & Walking Cricket
Run daytime Walking Cricket sessions for older adults with many being new to cricket.Encourage more women to join Walking Cricket.
Support and train local volunteers and teachers through Cricket Scotland coaching courses.Keep track of weekly attendance figures on our digital systems.Submit monthly updates to the General Manager and share success stories from your sessions.
Checks & Onboarding
Because this role involves working with children and adults at risk, any job offer depends on:PVG Scheme Check: A satisfactory Disclosure Scotland PVG check (the club will arrange and pay for this before you start running sessions).
Safeguarding & First Aid: Completing First Aid and Child Protection (CWPS) training (provided and paid for by the club if you do not already have them).
Performance & Success Metrics
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) mutually agreed between the successful candidate and the General Manager, such as target numbers for school taster sessions, participant growth in Women & Girls' cricket and Walking Cricket attendance.
Qualifications & Experience
Coaching Qualification: Level 1 UKCC / Level 1 ICC Coaching Certificate - Essential / Desirable
School Delivery: Experience running sports sessions in primary or secondary schools - Desirable
Volunteer Support: Knowledge of recruiting and upskilling volunteers - Desirable
Women & Girls’ Sport: Experience leading sports development for women or girls - Desirable
Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence and access to a car for travel between schools - Essential
Background Checks: Willingness to complete PVG, First Aid, and Safeguarding checks arranged by the club - Essential
Older Adults / Adapted Sports: Experience working with older adults or running modified sports like Walking Cricket - Desirable
Skills & Personal Qualities
Communication: Clear and friendly communication with schools, parents and trustees - Essential
Organisation: Ability to manage session schedules and record attendance data accurately - Essential
Coaching Style: Energetic, encouraging approach with a real commitment to inclusion and fairness in sport - Essential
