A leading regional accountancy practice is looking to recruit an Accounts Manager to join its growing team in Axminster. With multiple offices across the South West and a diverse client portfolio, the firm has built an excellent reputation for delivering outstanding client service whilst providing employees with the support and flexibility needed to develop long-term careers.

This is a varied and rewarding position where you'll manage your own client portfolio, mentor junior team members and work closely with Partners and Directors on a range of technical and advisory projects. The role of Accounts Manager will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring accounting and tax compliance requirements are delivered to the highest standard
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
  • Preparing and reviewing corporate and personal tax returns and tax computations
  • Reviewing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with current legislation
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as a trusted point of contact
  • Supervising workflow across the team and supporting the development of junior colleagues
  • Working alongside Partners and Directors on specialist assignments and technical projects
  • Liaising with HMRC and Companies House on behalf of clients
  • Ensuring work is completed in line with professional standards and internal quality procedures

This role would suit an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant, although applications are equally welcomed from outstanding part-qualified and qualified-by-experience candidates with significant accountancy practice experience. You’ll have a strong technical background gained within an accountancy practice, alongside excellent communication skills and the confidence to build lasting relationships with clients. Previous experience supervising or mentoring team members would be highly advantageous.
