Senior Assistant Accountant – Newton Abbot – £35-40,000
Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been exclusively engaged by a new client, a long established and highly respected services business, that seek to recruit an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their team. The role is offered as a full time, permanent contract to be based at the company headquarters in Newton Abbot.
Working closely alongside a highly experienced Finance Director, this will be a broad and interesting role where the successful candidate can work towards overall control of the operational finance lifecycle of a busy and prosperous business. Key responsibilities to include :
- Day-to-day bookkeeping for a busy accounting function
- Assume leadership of the accounts payable function, liaising with suppliers, uploading invoices and overseeing supplier payment runs
- Lead the accounts receivable function, invoicing customers and setting up new customer accounts
- Management of the credit control function
- Assist the FD with the production of management accounts
- Ensure that statutory reporting deadlines are met
- Bank reconciliations
- Produce cash flow statements and general forecasts
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register
- Balance sheet reconciliation
- Assume a lead role in VAT reporting
- Posting accruals and prepayments
- Assist the wider finance team as and when required
For this role we seek a motivated and career driven Assistant Accountant with at least two years of recently gained experience in a similar capacity. Candidates may be part / fully AAT / professionally qualified or suitably qualified through vocational experience. The company is keen to implement digital system improvements so good IT aptitude and excellent MS Excel skills essential. This is a highly visible role that works with an energetic team and liaises with colleagues throughout the business so excellent communication / interpersonal skills required.
