Continued growth has created an exciting opportunity to join a successful and expanding accountancy practice in Newton Abbot.
As Bureau Payroll Officer / Client Bookkeeper, you'll become an integral member of a supportive team, managing payroll for a diverse client base whilst also providing bookkeeping and VAT support. This is a varied role offering genuine responsibility and the opportunity to build lasting relationships with clients.
Seeing an almost 50/50 split between Payroll and Bookkeeping, duties to include:
- Managing end-to-end payroll, processing weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls
- Ensuring payrolls are completed accurately and on time, including RTI submissions, year-end processes and pension auto-enrolment
- Liaising with HMRC to resolve payroll queries and provide support to clients
- Preparing bookkeeping records and completing VAT returns for a varied portfolio of clients
- Working across a range of accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage 50 and Microsoft Excel
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients, providing professional advice and day-to-day support
- Assisting with general office administration and supporting colleagues across the wider practice when required
The successful candidate?
You'll have at least two years' recent experience processing high-volume payrolls within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau environment, alongside experience in bookkeeping and VAT preparation.
You'll also be an organised and accurate individual with excellent communication skills, capable of working independently, managing deadlines and delivering outstanding service to clients.
AAT qualifications would be advantageous but are by no means essential for candidates with strong practical experience.
