I'm working with a well-established and highly regarded business based in West Cornwall that is looking for a capable and commercially minded Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function and play a central role in the ongoing success of the business.
Reporting to the senior leadership team, this is a broad and hands on role covering the full financial management remit, including:
- Overseeing all aspects of financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance at every stage.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards, with full ownership of the numbers from start to finish.
- Managing cash flow and forecasting to ensure the financial stability of the organisation and support effective decision making at senior level.
- Implementing and maintaining robust financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Collaborating with departmental heads to prepare budgets and monitor performance against targets, providing insightful financial analysis to support the strategic direction of the business.
- Liaising with external auditors during the annual audit process and ensuring timely resolution of any issues raised.
- Staying current with changes in accounting regulations and best practice to ensure the business remains fully compliant at all times.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role, ideally within a fast paced, operationally complex environment.
Candidates from any sector with the right technical skills and commercial mindset are encouraged to apply.
Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, Quick Books or similar platforms is essential.
A professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA is advantageous though not essential, and candidates who are qualified by experience with a strong track record will be equally considered.
