Trial Balance are delighted to have been exclusively engaged to source an experienced Financial Controller to join a highly successful and recognisable Cornish services business based on the outskirts of Truro. This is a pivotal role within the company and one where the successful candidate will join at senior management level and assume responsibility for the group accounting function. The business has experienced considerable growth in recent years and has acquired several additional sites in the Southwest.

Reporting to the Managing Director and liaising closely with the board of directors and multiple external stakeholders, the successful candidate will also assume lead support and mentorship of a small accounting team.

Key features of the role include:

  • Lead responsibility for all accounting protocols and maintaining robust internal controls
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant reporting standards
  • Identify and implement improvements to the function
  • Act as a key point of contact to external stakeholders and major suppliers
  • Production and delivery of detailed management accounts
  • Ensure efficient supplier payment processes
  • Management of the payroll function (not administration)
  • Assist with annual audits
  • Lead and develop your own team to ensure CPD goals are achieved

We’re looking for a dynamic, energetic, and down-to-earth Financial Controller with a demonstrable history of success. A professionally qualified individual (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), you’ll need a solid background in supervising staff, preparation of financial and management reports, up to date knowledge of accounting standards and budgetary controls, and most certainly a natural leadership style. It’s a big job, but a rewarding one, and well suited to a driven FC who cares about their colleagues as much as their clients.
