Financial Controller - Bideford / Hybrid - Circa: £45,000 + exceptional benefits and development potential.

Trial Balance Consulting has exclusive engagement with a rapidly growing, B-Corp certified services business seeking its first Financial Controller. The role reports to the CEO and works with the senior management team as the finance number-one function, offering full-time, permanent employment with a flexible hybrid working arrangement and a comprehensive benefits package.

Reporting to the CEO and supported by an Accounts Manager, this newly created role involves managing day-to-day financial controls and collaborating with senior management to develop robust financial strategy.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Act as the senior financial lead, working with the CEO and SMT to execute key financial decision making
  • Overseeing and supporting the Accounts Manager and the day-to-day finance operations
  • Lead responsibility for all accounting protocols and maintaining robust internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant reporting standards
  • Identify and implement improvements to the function
  • Act as a key point of contact to external stakeholders and major suppliers
  • Production and delivery of detailed management accounts
  • Management of the payroll function (not administration)
  • Liaise closely with external accountants
Candidate profile:

The successful candidate will likely be operating at Finance Manager or Financial Controller level, ideally with experience in a fast-paced, growing SME. Applicants should be AAT qualified or higher, though consideration will be given to time-served vocational experience. This is a modern, technology-driven business, so a passion for a paperless digital working environment and adoption of new technology is essential.
