Job Introduction

Make a real difference every day

If you want a job where you can go home knowing you have genuinely made a difference, this is it. Working in employability is hard to describe to anyone outside the sector, but the simplest way to say it is this: you get the chance to help people rebuild confidence, overcome barriers and change their lives for the better. It is meaningful, rewarding, human work and for many of us, it is the best job we have ever had.

At Triage, we don't just deliver employability and training programmes. We help people build confidence, develop skills, overcome barriers, and take meaningful steps towards employment and independence.

Why Join Triage?

We believe great work starts with great people, so we make sure our colleagues feel supported, valued and empowered to succeed.

Benefits include:

  • Birthday off every year
  • Additional annual leave for length of service
  • Two paid volunteering days annually
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Discounts, rewards and wellbeing support
  • Pension and life assurance
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Ongoing learning and development
  • Career progression opportunities

Your development matters to us

At Triage, we don't just offer jobs. We build careers. We're committed to developing our people through training, coaching, mentoring and opportunities to grow within the organisation. Many of our colleagues have progressed into new roles, gained qualifications, and expanded their skills whilst making a positive difference to the lives of others.

You'll become part of a team that:

  • Supports and encourages one another
  • Shares ideas and best practice
  • Celebrates success together
  • Lives our values every day

About the role:

This is a key role at the heart of the programme's success. With every participant expected to progress into a funded work placement, you'll need to maintain a consistent pipeline of opportunities and ensure placements are available within 4-8 weeks of programme entry.

You'll thrive in a dynamic environment, balancing employer relationships, placement targets and programme priorities while working closely with colleagues to achieve successful outcomes. The role requires initiative, resilience and a genuine commitment to creating opportunities that make a lasting difference.

No two days are the same, but every day offers the chance to change a young person's future.

What you’ll bring:

We’re looking for someone who is:

• A natural influencer who can build trust quickly.

• Positive, resilient and motivated by helping others succeed.

• Organised, self-motivated and comfortable working towards targets.

• Local labour market knowledge and employer trends insight

• Confident enough to promote the benefits of inclusive hiring to employers

• Able to build and maintain exceptional employer relationships

What we're looking for:

We're looking for someone with the right attitude as much as the right experience.

We're looking for an Employer Engagement Consultant to build strong partnerships with local employers and create employment opportunities for young people aged 18-24 across the area. Working closely with Employment Mentors, you'll develop a strong understanding of each participant's goals, skills and potential, helping to identify opportunities where they can thrive.

Success in this role comes from your ability to engage employers and champion the benefits of investing in young talent. You'll proactively develop opportunities that may not otherwise exist, connecting businesses with motivated young people who are ready to prove themselves. Once a placement begins, you'll remain actively involved, working alongside the employer and Employment Mentor to support success throughout the six-month programme and maximise opportunities for sustainable employment at the end of the placement.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience of working in a target driven environment and achieving agreed performance outcomes.

• Experience of engaging, developing and maintaining effective relationships with employers, businesses or external stakeholders.

• Experience of generating opportunities through business development, account management, recruitment, sales, employer engagement or a similar customer-facing role.

• Ability to identify and secure employment, work placement or training opportunities that meet the needs of both participants and employers.

• Strong relationship building and networking skills, with the ability to influence and engage employers at all levels.

• Ability to understand participants' skills, strengths, aspirations and development needs and translate these into suitable employment opportunities.

• Experience of working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to achieve positive outcomes.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles to different audiences.

• Strong negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills.

• Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain a pipeline of opportunities and meet deadlines.

• Ability to provide ongoing support to employers and participants, resolving issues and maintaining positive working relationships throughout a placement.

• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and the ability to accurately maintain records and management information systems.

• Understanding of local labour market trends, employer recruitment practices and workforce needs.

• Ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to team and organisational objectives.

• Ability to work within a performance and target-driven environment while maintaining a high-quality employer and participant experience.

• Flexible, resilient and proactive, with a commitment to creating opportunities that help young people achieve sustainable employment.

Desirable

• Knowledge of working within employability, skills, recruitment, apprenticeship or training programmes.

• Understanding of funded employment or skills programmes.

• Experience of partnership working with external agencies and specialist support providers.

Who you are :

You'll thrive in this role if you are:

• Passionate about helping people achieve their potential.

• Resilient and adaptable when working with individuals facing barriers.

• Professional, supportive and solution-focused.

• Committed to delivering high-quality outcomes and excellent customer service.

• Able to work independently whilst contributing positively to a team environment.
