About the role: As a Key Worker, you will manage a caseload of individuals (participants), delivering tailored, person‑centred employability and soft skills support that builds confidence, motivation, and clear progression pathways. You will work with individuals who may face multiple or complex barriers, using a coaching and motivational approach to support engagement, sustained participation, and positive outcomes. This is a varied, people‑focused role requiring strong facilitation skills, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to supporting individuals to progress toward the next steps in their journey.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct high quality initial and ongoing assessments to understand individual aspirations, strengths, experiences, and barriers to progression.
  • Deliver engaging and structured sessions across six‑week programmes, covering: soft skills and confidence building, employability, digital skills and better‑off‑in‑work calculations.
  • Review individuals’ progress, providing support to set and achieve realistic progression goals.
  • Provide effective one‑to‑one and group support, adapting delivery approaches to meet diverse learning styles, abilities, and levels of confidence.
  • Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe environment that encourages participation, motivation, and sustained engagement.
  • Deliver flexible and innovative support, aligned with individual needs and contractual requirements.
  • Monitor participant progress, maintain accurate and timely records, and adapt support to achieve positive outcomes and performance targets.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with partner organisations, and local support services.
  • Represent the organisation at external meetings, partnership forums, and events, contributing to local networks and opportunities for participants.
  • Commit to continuous professional development, applying best practice in employability delivery and key working.

Required criteria:

  • Experience delivering employability, soft skills, or work readiness support, either through structured group training programmes or one‑to‑one coaching.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate individuals with varying levels of confidence, ability, and motivation.
  • Experience supporting individuals who may be disadvantaged or face multiple barriers, such as long‑term unemployment, care experience, health conditions, or complex life circumstances.
  • Ability to assess progress, respond to barriers, and adapt support approaches to maintain engagement and drive participant progression.
  • Strong organisational skills and experience working in a performance or target‑driven environment.
  • Confidence using digital tools and platforms to support delivery, communication, engagement, and record keeping.
  • Experience supporting disadvantaged, care‑experienced or multi‑needs individuals.
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle and business insurance.
  • Experience working in recruitment, publicly funded services or similar sectors.
  • Established local knowledge or partner networks, including employers, training providers, or community services.
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused approach, with examples of using initiative and creativity to overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.

For the successful candidate, this role will require a satisfactory PVG check appropriate to the level of responsibility involved.
