Contract Manager

Location: Hybrid / Field Based - Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Are you an experienced Contract Manager with a background in grounds maintenance, landscaping or a similar operational environment? Do you enjoy leading teams, building strong client relationships and taking ownership of contract performance?

We're looking for a proactive and organised Contract Manager to oversee a portfolio of commercial contracts, ensuring exceptional service delivery, high safety standards and profitable operations.

The Role:

You'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of multiple commercial contracts, supporting operational teams, maintaining excellent client relationships and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

This is a varied role that combines site visits, client meetings and team leadership with planning, reporting and commercial management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the successful delivery of commercial grounds maintenance contracts.
  • Lead, coach and develop operational teams and Team Leaders.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and act as their main point of contact.
  • Plan labour, resources, vehicles and equipment to maximise efficiency.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
  • Monitor contract budgets and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Produce accurate operational reports using digital management systems.
  • Identify opportunities to grow existing contracts through additional works.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience managing contracts within grounds maintenance, landscaping, facilities management or a similar sector.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities.
  • Experience managing client relationships and delivering high levels of customer service.
  • Good commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience using workforce or field management software.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
  • SMSTS, PA1/PA6 or relevant horticultural or landscaping qualifications.
  • Experience managing commercial grounds maintenance contracts.
