Greenwood Court is designed as a 'Community of Care' where seniors are able to age in place. As the needs of our seniors change, they have access to additional services and supports without having to leave familiar surroundings or newly developed friendships. Staff and volunteers are committed to making Greenwood Court "a place to call home" for its residents.

About the Position:

Reporting to the Director of Support, the Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the residents according to Canada's Food Guide requirements, legislative standards and regulations, and TCMH policies and procedures. The professional is responsible for all aspects of food production, food service and sanitation.

Wage: $24.79 - $28.04 (certified) $24.79 - $26.04 (non-certified)

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares, portions, and presents meal and snacks to be served to residents, visitors, staff and special events
  • Prepares food for therapeutic, texture modification, and preference diets (up to 160 residents)
  • Organizes food preparation schedules to meet meal deadlines
  • Ensures that work area and equipment are maintained organized and clean
  • Participates in training and meetings ensuring the quality of the services

Minimal Requirements:

  • Must have Food Handler Certification
  • Culinary diploma or a Red Seal Cook Certification is preferred
  • Long-Term Care or institutional cooking experience is an asset
