We're working with a growing, AI-native SaaS platform helping large enterprise brands unify, search, and activate their content across every source they own. The team is lean, the codebase is focused, and the roadmap for the next 12 months covers deduplication, campaign intelligence, and LLM-powered content insights.

This is a senior IC role on the core backend team. You'll own production Rust services end to end, from architecture and design through to deployment and running in production. No DevOps handoff, no separate QA function. You ship it, you own it.

What you'll work with:

  • Rust (Tokio, Tonic/gRPC)
  • NATS for event-driven messaging
  • Postgres
  • Redis
  • OpenSearch
  • AWS (ECS, Lambda, RDS)
  • Terraform

The platform processes hundreds of thousands of events concurrently and is scaling fast.

What they're looking for:

  • Solid production Rust: idiomatic async Rust, strong grasp of ownership and lifetimes, robust error handling
  • A track record of designing and operating distributed backend services at scale
  • End-to-end ownership mentality: you design it, build it, test it, deploy it, improve it
  • Speed and decisiveness across the full delivery cycle, not just strong technical output in isolation
  • Comfortable with gRPC/Protobuf, event-driven architectures, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred, GCP or Azure fine)
  • Experience with trunk-based development, CI/CD, and automated testing

What's on offer:

  • £90,000–£100,000 base depending on experience
  • Stock options
  • Private medical and travel insurance
  • Travel expenses and lunches covered on office days
  • One day a week in central London
  • A flexible, people-first culture with access to leading AI tooling as part of your day-to-day workflow

How to prepare for a job interview at TRG

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If TRG uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
