We’re working with a globally recognised tech-for-good platform that helps organisations operate more responsibly and sustainably at scale. With a vast customer base and a rich dataset built over many years, they’re now investing heavily in AI to unlock new insights, improve decision-making, and shape the next generation of their product offering.

They’re looking for a very Senior IC who combines strong product instincts with the experience of building in fast-moving, scaling environments. This role is for someone who’s been a pivotal engineer during a scale-up phase. Someone who raises the bar internally, not just meets it. They need this person to embed themselves as the technical role model and have real ownership of product direction whilst taking full advantage of the AI tooling they have on offer.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Building high-quality, user-facing features using React and TypeScript
  • Contributing to backend services in Kotlin/Java
  • Working closely with Product and Design to shape and deliver impactful features
  • Owning problems end-to-end, from discovery through to production
  • Setting and evolving engineering standards, practices, and ways of working
  • Leveraging modern AI tooling to improve velocity, quality, and developer experience

What they’re looking for:

  • Experience as a key engineer in a startup or scale-up environment
  • Strong React and TypeScript expertise, with solid backend experience
  • A genuine product mindset — you think in terms of user outcomes, not just delivery
  • Proven ability to raise engineering standards and influence peers
  • Comfortable using AI tools as part of your day-to-day development workflow
  • Pragmatic, fast-moving, and comfortable with ambiguity

How to prepare for a job interview at TRG

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If TRG uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
