The Role
Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland
Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, the Manager of Software Engineering will lead globally distributed engineering teams at TRG Screen, building a high-performance culture of operational excellence while scaling engineering operations to meet evolving business goals. This role is responsible for translating engineering strategy into execution—optimizing development processes, providing technical leadership to guide platform modernization, and delivering secure, reliable, scalable solutions.
Responsibilities
- People leadership – Coach and develop direct reports through 1:1s, timely feedback, and career planning.
- Delivery – Set clear direction and realistic timelines, manage the roadmap with Product and Design, and proactively handle risks, blockers, and dependencies.
- Process – Champion Agile practices, ceremonies, and ensure the team has space to act on improvements.
- Technology – Engage in technical discussions at team level, ensure designs are properly evaluated, and keep team decisions consistent with TRG Screen’s architectural principles and engineering strategy.
- AI governance – Actively drive AI adoption within the team, build capability and measure uptake.
- Security & communication – Treat secure coding and supply-chain hygiene as standard work.
Skills and Qualifications Required
- 5 years of relevant industry experience building production-grade software solutions using an enterprise-grade stack.
- C# / .NET experience is preferred, though candidates with a strong background in comparable languages such as Java or Go are welcome to apply.
- 2+ years of people-management experience, with a proven ability to coach and develop engineers at varying levels.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, Continuous Delivery, developer velocity, and DevOps concepts.
- Demonstrable experience managing team performance – setting expectations, conducting reviews, and supporting career growth.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to tailor communication to technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred
- Background in financial services, market data, or a regulated technology environment.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, or equivalent tooling.
- Familiarity with AI developer tooling (e.g. Cursor, GitHub Copilot) and experience driving adoption responsibly within an engineering team.
- Exposure to cloud platforms, with AWS preferred.
