Hydro Group manufactures bespoke subsea cable and connector assembly engineering for the oil and gas, marine renewable energy and defence industries.
We are certified to ISO 9001 and 14001:2015 to design and manufacture subsea electrical and optical connectors, electrical pressure hull penetrators, associated subsea electrical cable terminations, installation of electrical and optical connectors, specialist underwater and harsh environment electrical and optical composite cables, tethers and umbilicals. Our products are precision‑engineered to withstand the harshest environmental conditions.
Objectives / Scope
This is a generic job description encompassing the duties of technicians in several departments, working to strict ISO9001 procedures and processes.
Main Responsibilities
- Assemble parts supplied in kit form as per engineering drawings.
- Prepare supplied parts for termination and encapsulation.
- Carry out electrical terminations and splices through soldering and mechanical processes.
- Carry out Fibre Optic terminations in line with the defined processes.
- Mixing and casting of a variety of Polyurethane, Polyethylene, and epoxy resins.
- Interpret technical engineering drawings to manufacture in line with process specifications.
- Manufacture of connectors and connector inserts from raw components.
- Handle and store chemicals for cleaning, priming, and moulding strictly adhering to health and safety procedures.
- Attend on‑site, both UK and abroad, to assist customers with installation, testing and monitoring of applications.
- Test products and accurately record and document results.
- Maintain all machinery and equipment to proper standards on a regular basis.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices to ensure the working environment is always customer friendly.
- Assist with training and job or product awareness for other staff within the Group.
- Maintain the Group management behaviours practices and equal opportunity policy.
Qualifications / Experience
- Electrical experience or experience in a similar position desired.
Skills
- Good communication skills and effective team player.
- Soldering & wiring of connectors and assemblies.
- Understanding of technical drawings/ wiring schematics.
- Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft office.
