We are representing an international investment bank that is seeking an Associate to join its Reference Data function within the wider Operations & Shared Services division. This role plays an integral part in supporting day‑to‑day (BAU) reference data activities, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong control across multiple business areas.
Working closely with the team manager, the Associate will oversee BAU processes, monitor workflow completion, and help maintain high‑quality reference data across the organisation’s European branches. The successful candidate will demonstrate solid knowledge of reference data management, a strong risk‑control mindset, and the ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, high‑quality reference data across European office systems, ensuring alignment with AML/KYC documentation.
- Create and maintain new customer records and related product, settlement, and regulatory attributes across internal platforms.
- Approve and manage Standard Settlement Instructions (SSIs) for FX, MM, and Derivative products.
- Oversee updates to internal trading limits and base/fixing rates across relevant branches.
- Review and execute incoming reference data workflow requests within agreed SLAs.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, working with business lines and project teams to achieve timely, high‑quality outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to drive process efficiency and standardisation.
- Support Data Administration, AML/Firco, and Client Lifecycle Management teams with projects and ad‑hoc tasks.
- Respond promptly and professionally to internal queries.
- Assist the team manager in overseeing daily activity and monitoring task completion.
- Provide support and guidance to less experienced colleagues to enhance overall team capability.
- Independently manage BAU activities with a strong sense of ownership and accuracy.
- Participate in business change initiatives and operational improvement projects.
- Act as a checker for designated tasks, ensuring a high standard of accuracy and control.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Operations, ideally with a focus on reference data.
- Solid understanding of financial instruments, particularly FX and Money Market products.
- Knowledge of credit limits and related control processes.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and numerical capabilities.
- Proven customer‑centric approach and experience supporting client‑facing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to drive improvements, adapt to change, and solve problems effectively.
- Collaborative team player with a focus on shared outcomes.
- High computer literacy, with strong data‑handling and presentation skills.
- Prior supervisory exposure is advantageous.
- Experience with systems such as Murex, Gloss, SharePoint, Midas Fusion, or Power Automate is beneficial.
