The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, provide proactive business and tax advice, and play a key role in leading and developing a team.
The Role
As Client Manager, you will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of clients while ensuring exceptional service delivery and identifying opportunities to add value.
- Client Management
- Managing a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients.
- Building strong, long-term client relationships through regular communication and meetings.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for client queries.
- Providing proactive accounting, tax, and business advisory support.
- Managing HMRC correspondence and investigations where required.
- Reviewing and managing client fee structures.
- Team Leadership
- Leading, mentoring, and developing junior team members.
- Conducting regular one-to-ones and performance reviews.
- Delegating work effectively and supporting team development.
- Creating a positive and collaborative working culture.
- Advisory & Business Development
- Identifying opportunities to provide additional services and solutions to clients.
- Supporting business growth through networking and relationship building.
- Contributing to client communications, marketing initiatives, and thought leadership content.
- Working closely with leadership to achieve business objectives and growth targets.
- Technical & Compliance
- Reviewing accounts, tax returns, and associated compliance work.
- Ensuring work is completed accurately and within deadlines.
- Keeping up to date with changes in legislation, tax, and accounting standards.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the practice.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
- ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) preferred.
- Previous experience in a client-facing role within accountancy practice.
- Strong knowledge of accounts, tax, and general practice services.
- Experience managing a client portfolio.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities.
- Experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage, and QuickBooks.
