Trevor James Recruitment is working with an ambitious, growing accountancy practice looking to recruit an Audit Senior team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a start-up firm founded by experienced professionals who have built their careers within established mid-tier accountancy practices. With a strong team behind the business, the firm is already winning high-quality audit work and building an impressive client portfolio.
What makes this opportunity different is the chance to be involved in much more than you would typically experience within a traditional mid-tier firm. You'll have the opportunity to help shape the way the business operates, gain exposure to different aspects of the practice, and play a key role in its continued growth. The role is fully remote, offering flexibility alongside the opportunity to work with a team focused on delivering quality work to its clients.
The Role
As Audit Senior, you'll take responsibility for managing key stages of audit assignments, from planning through to completion, ensuring files are prepared to a high standard and ready for director review. However, this isn't a role where you'll simply oversee work from a distance. Given the start-up nature of the business, you'll also be hands-on when required, getting involved in audit testing and supporting the team to ensure assignments are delivered efficiently and effectively.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and completing audit assignments across a varied client portfolio.
- Preparing high-quality audit files for director review.
- Carrying out audit testing and detailed fieldwork where required.
- Reviewing audit work and ensuring appropriate documentation and evidence are in place.
- Managing audit assignments to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards.
- Building strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Supporting the development of audit processes and working practices as the firm grows.
- Taking ownership of assignments while remaining flexible and willing to get involved at all levels.
About You
We're looking for an experienced audit professional who enjoys taking responsibility but is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in the detail. Youβll ideally have:
- Experience in an audit-focused role within an accountancy practice.
- Experience planning and completing audit assignments.
- The ability to prepare well-organised audit files for senior or director review.
- A strong understanding of audit procedures, testing and documentation.
- Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage your own workload remotely.
- A proactive, adaptable approach and the confidence to work in a growing business where responsibilities may evolve.
ACA or ACCA qualification would be advantageous.
Why Consider This Role?
- Fully remote working β enjoy the flexibility of working from home.
- High-quality audit work β gain exposure to an impressive client portfolio.
- Broader experience β get involved in areas of the business you may not encounter in a traditional mid-tier firm.
- Real responsibility β take ownership of assignments and work closely with the directors.
- Opportunity to make an impact β join a growing practice where your contribution can help shape the future of the business.
- A hands-on role β combine audit management responsibilities with practical involvement in assignments.
If you're an Audit Senior looking for something different from the traditional practice environment, this could be an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your career. Although remote due to the location of clients candidates in the Midlands and South West would be favoured.
