Trevett Services are recruiting a Critical Shift Technician to join a high-performing engineering team within a Data Centre / Critical Environment in Slough. This role operates on a shift rota and is suited to an electrically biased engineer with experience in critical environments.
You will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and fault resolution of all electrical and associated building services systems, ensuring site uptime, compliance, and adherence to strict SLA and KPI requirements. Working closely with the Shift Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining business-critical infrastructure.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Carry out all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) in line with statutory requirements and site schedules
- Complete reactive maintenance and fault diagnosis on electrical and building services systems
- Operate and maintain critical systems to industry standards and codes of practice
- Identify, rectify, and escalate faults where required
- Maintain effective communication with the Shift Supervisor regarding plant status, isolations, and ongoing works
- Accurately complete maintenance records, shift logs, and computer-based PPM systems
- Carry out installation and modification works to site electrical services
- Ensure plant rooms, workshops, stores, and rest areas are maintained to a high standard of housekeeping
- Supervise and support specialist contractors when on-site
- Ensure safe systems of work are followed at all times, including RAMS and permit procedures
- Building electrical installations and associated distribution systems
- Emergency lighting and lighting control systems
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Fire detection and suppression systems
- Air conditioning systems including AHUs, VAVs, FCUs, and split systems
- Variable speed drives and heating systems
- Generators and associated control systems
- UPS systems and static switches
- Single and three-phase motors
- HV systems (training and authorisation provided where required)
- Essential:
- City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering / Building Services
- 18th Edition (BS7671)
- Experience within Building Services or Facilities Engineering
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability
- Good communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with clients and colleagues
- Proactive, reliable, and safety-focused approach
- Desirable:
- Experience within Data Centres or Critical Environments
- HV Authorised Person (or working towards)
- Confined Space training
- Strong knowledge of UPS, generators, refrigeration, HVAC, and water treatment systems
- BMS and alarm monitoring experience
