Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a major public-sector social housing contract across Oldham and the surrounding areas. The role will involve overseeing commercial delivery on live housing works, with a strong focus on subcontractor procurement, cost control, and payment management. The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams, site management, and the client to ensure robust commercial governance throughout the contract lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial management of social housing works across multiple sites
- Subcontractor procurement, tendering, and appointment
- Administration and agreement of subcontractor payments, valuations, and final accounts
- Cost forecasting, budget management, and financial reporting
- Managing variations, change control, and cost recovery
- Ensuring compliance with public-sector and contractual requirements
- Working closely with site teams to support delivery and mitigate commercial risk
- Supporting month-end processes and client reporting
- Utilising commercial systems and tools to manage procurement and payment processes
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a maintenance environment or working on long lifecycle PFI style contracts
- Strong background in subcontractor procurement and payment management
- Experience delivering projects within social housing repairs & maintenance
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage multiple workstreams
- Confident communicator, able to work collaboratively with site and client teams
- IT-literate with experience using commercial / procurement systems
Desirable
- Experience using eVision (or similar procurement and payment management systems)
- Previous experience working on long-term public-sector frameworks
