Role Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join a small, close-knit team operating within a critical hospital environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled engineer looking to work in a stable and rewarding role, maintaining essential building services that directly support patient care. The position operates on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern with 12-hour shifts, offering a strong work-life balance alongside exposure to a highly regulated and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical plant
- Maintain and repair Air Handling Units (AHUs), pumps, and associated plant
- Diagnose and rectify faults including belt replacements, blockages, and leak detection
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and site procedures
- Support the wider engineering team in maintaining high standards across the site
- Participate in the on-call rota (every other shift)
Required Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Level 3 NVQ / City & Guilds or Equivalent In a Mechanical Discipline.
- Proven experience working as a Mechanical Engineer within a commercial or critical environment
- Strong knowledge of AHUs, pumps, belts, and general mechanical plant
- Experience with fault finding, including leak detection and clearing blockages
- Ability to work effectively within a small team environment
- Good understanding of health & safety compliance
Desirable:
- Experience working within a healthcare or hospital environment
- Relevant mechanical qualifications (NVQ / City & Guilds or equivalent)
