Company Introduction

Trespass is a leading outdoor clothing and equipment brand known for its commitment to performance, quality and affordability. With over 300 retail stores worldwide and an established ecommerce presence in the UK, alongside opportunities for further international growth, Trespass designs products for everyone from casual adventurers to serious outdoor enthusiasts.

Our extensive product range includes waterproof jackets, ski wear, hiking footwear, activewear and outdoor equipment, combining technical performance with accessibility and value.

Alongside Trespass, our ecommerce operation also incorporates Nevisport, providing the successful candidate with the opportunity to work across two established brands with different customer propositions and significant potential for digital growth.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and commercially focused Ecommerce Manager to help drive the continued growth of our online business.

Reporting directly to the Head of Ecommerce, you will take a leading role in the day-to-day trading and commercial performance of the Trespass and Nevisport websites, ensuring we maximise revenue, conversion, margin and customer experience.

This is a highly hands-on role. You will be expected to understand what is happening across the ecommerce channels every day, identify opportunities and issues quickly, and coordinate the relevant teams to deliver results.

You will work closely with Trading, Merchandising, Performance Marketing, Content, SEO, Development, BI, Photography, Customer Service and Marketplace teams to ensure ecommerce activity is commercially aligned and effectively executed.

The successful candidate will combine strong ecommerce trading instincts with analytical capability and the ability to turn data into action.

What does a typical day look like?

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day trading performance of the Trespass and Nevisport websites.
  • Monitor revenue, conversion rate, traffic, average order value, margin, product performance and other core ecommerce KPIs.
  • Identify trading opportunities and risks and take appropriate action rather than simply reporting performance.
  • Manage and coordinate the ecommerce trading calendar across campaigns, promotions, product launches and seasonal activity.
  • Work closely with Merchandising and Buying teams to ensure the right products, categories and ranges receive appropriate online exposure.
  • Manage onsite merchandising including category ordering, product prioritisation, navigation, landing pages, search and promotional positioning.
  • Analyse product and category performance to identify opportunities to improve revenue, margin and sell-through.
  • Support pricing and promotional strategy, ensuring activity is commercially sound and correctly executed across the websites.
  • Work closely with Performance Marketing teams to ensure paid media activity reflects stock availability, margin, trading priorities and commercial opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Content, Photography and Marketing teams to ensure campaigns and products have the assets required to trade effectively.
  • Use analytics and customer behaviour data to identify opportunities to improve conversion and customer journeys.
  • Develop and maintain a structured CRO programme, identifying friction points and opportunities across the customer journey.
  • Work with development teams to prioritise ecommerce improvements, bug fixes and functionality.
  • Produce clear trading reports and communicate performance, opportunities and risks to the Head of Ecommerce and wider business.
  • Support forecasting and budgeting by providing insight into trading trends, customer behaviour and product performance.
  • Monitor competitor activity, promotional strategies, pricing and wider ecommerce market trends.
  • Ensure website standards are maintained across product information, imagery, pricing, promotions and customer experience.
  • Support international ecommerce growth and localisation as the business expands into additional markets.
  • Work collaboratively across the wider ecommerce department, stepping into operational areas where required to ensure delivery.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Take day-to-day ownership of ecommerce trading performance across Trespass and Nevisport, driving revenue, margin, conversion and average order value.
  • Analyse daily and weekly performance, identifying not only what happened, but why it happened and what action should be taken next.
  • Manage the ecommerce trading calendar, including campaigns, promotions, seasonal activity, markdowns and product launches.
  • Drive effective onsite merchandising through product and category prioritisation, navigation, search, landing pages, recommendations and promotional positioning.
  • Work closely with Buying and Merchandising teams to align ecommerce activity with stock availability, margin, customer demand and commercial priorities.
  • Use ecommerce analytics and customer behaviour data to identify trends, opportunities and areas of underperformance, translating insight into clear commercial actions.
  • Work collaboratively with Performance Marketing, CRM and SEO teams, ensuring acquisition activity is aligned with trading priorities and delivers commercially sustainable returns.
  • Identify and prioritise opportunities to improve conversion, customer journeys, mobile experience, product pages, navigation, search and checkout.
  • Work with Development and technical teams to define requirements, prioritise ecommerce improvements, support testing and ensure developments deliver measurable commercial value.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of ecommerce technology, including CMS platforms, product feeds, APIs, integrations, analytics and tracking.
  • Support marketplace activity and maintain an understanding of Amazon Seller and Vendor models, marketplace merchandising, Buy Box mechanics, advertising, fees and channel profitability.
  • Monitor competitors, market trends and emerging ecommerce opportunities, bringing forward recommendations to improve performance.
  • Work cross-functionally across Ecommerce, Marketing, Buying, Merchandising, Development, Content and Operations to ensure activity is coordinated and delivered effectively.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone with strong experience in ecommerce, ideally within retail, fashion, footwear, outdoor, sports or another product-led consumer business.

You should have:

  • Strong ecommerce trading experience.
  • A highly commercial mindset.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Experience managing significant ecommerce revenue.
  • Experience working with large product catalogues.
  • Strong understanding of onsite merchandising.
  • Experience planning and executing ecommerce promotions.
  • Understanding of ecommerce profitability and margin.
  • Experience using ecommerce analytics and reporting.
  • Good understanding of digital performance marketing.
  • Experience working with ecommerce development teams.
  • Strong understanding of customer journeys and conversion optimisation.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-moving trading environment.
  • Experience coordinating multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Confidence challenging existing ways of working where opportunities for improvement exist.

Experience with Adobe Commerce/Magento, GA4, ecommerce merchandising/search platforms, marketplaces or international ecommerce would be advantageous.

About You

You are naturally commercial and curious.

When sales increase or decrease, your first instinct is to understand why.

You are comfortable moving between data, products, customers and commercial decisions and understand how each influences ecommerce performance.

You are not someone who waits for a weekly meeting to identify a problem. You monitor performance, investigate issues and drive action.

You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment where priorities can change quickly and where everyone is expected to contribute beyond the boundaries of their immediate role.

You will be:

  • Commercially minded
  • Analytical
  • Proactive
  • Highly organised
  • Comfortable making decisions
  • Detail orientated
  • Customer focused
  • Collaborative
  • Accountable
  • Naturally inquisitive
  • Comfortable challenging assumptions
  • Focused on delivery rather than process for process's sake

You should also be comfortable working directly with the Head of Ecommerce and taking increasing ownership as you develop within the role.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role will be measured through your ability to:

  • Deliver ecommerce revenue and margin targets.
  • Improve conversion rate and customer experience.
  • Increase the commercial effectiveness of onsite merchandising.
  • Identify and act upon trading opportunities quickly.
  • Improve coordination between ecommerce, marketing, merchandising and development.
  • Deliver campaigns and promotions accurately and on time.
  • Use data to improve commercial decision-making.
  • Build a clear and disciplined ecommerce trading rhythm.
  • Continually identify opportunities to improve how the ecommerce operation works.

Working for Trespass

  • You will receive 30 days holiday (increasing to 32 by 2 years’ service) to ensure you keep a healthy work-life balance and have lots of exciting plans in place to look forward to
  • Benefit from our corporate discounts for you, your friends and family, making the most of the great outdoors
  • Relaxed dress code
  • Free onsite parking

We want like-minded, committed individuals to join us and contribute to our continued success.
