This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and driven qualified accountant looking for a role in a high performing finance team within a growing business.

Established in Glasgow in 1938, the company has gone on to become one of the most recognisable outdoor clothing brands in Europe with over 1500 employees and over 250 retail stores. Looking ahead, Trespass is bolstering its finance team to support its ambitious growth plans.

The Opportunity

Trespass have identified the need to appoint a Corporate Accountant to support the finance team and Directors in all aspects, primarily through taking accounting ownership of several of the Director’s privately owned operations. The successful candidate will be integral to the finance function and wider organisation. Since the Corporate Accountant will support business decisions, there will be opportunities to demonstrate and enhance commercial awareness.

The Corporate Accountant will develop into a finance leader within the organisation and there will be some potential to refine the parameters of the role based on the candidate’s experience and development needs.

Main Responsibilities

·Prepare the monthly management accounts for Director’s privately owned enterprises.

·Ensure accurate reporting to Directors on a monthly basis

·Act as a business partner for each of the entities

·Manage compliance with tax, VAT and other statutory reporting deadlines

·Preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations and other month end control files.

·Prepare the year end accounts and coordinate with the appointed external advisors

·Communicate with Directors and other senior management within the business on day-to-day activities and challenge the decisions as required

·Compilation of Director’s self-assessment tax returns

·Company lead on all aspects of insurance matters & renewals

·Responsibility for the management and payment of Directors credit cards

·Keep up-to-date with technical and regulatory updates and be a key source of accounting expertise for the team

·Ensure robust financial controls are in place and work with other members of the finance team to ensure these are continually improved in line with industry best practice

·Identify efficiencies to streamline and improve our current processes

Experience/ Skill Requirements

·Fully Qualified Accountant (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA)

·Ability to work independently & confidentially within a fast-paced environment.

·Skilled in managing workload and prioritising tasks

·Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

·Organisation, prioritisation, and time management skills

·Highly detail oriented and analytical with commerciality

·Ability to solve problems and be adaptable

·Highly proficient with excel and good IT literacy

·Driven, ambitious and professional

·Experience of preparing statutory accounts and self-assessment tax returns

·Relevant post-qualified experience in a financial or management accountant in a large company

·Experience of preparing/ reviewing monthly management accounts to a deadline in a past role

·Experience of using Microsoft AX12, Sage or Dynamics 365

·Experience of preparation of charity & pension fund accounts

Hours: 42.5 hours per week (8.30am to 5.30pm)
