About the Role
The overseeing of day-to-day operations in the laboratory, ensuring turnaround times and on-time delivery expectations are met. Responsible for ensuring the precision and accuracy of all measurements made in the laboratory. Manage all calibration activities, including the management of in-house test equipment, back to preferred suppliers. Maintaining compliance to all current accreditation and registrations. Responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of all calibration procedures whether current or newly written. Will be required to develop and implement calibration processes. Responsible for the coordination between Ops and Dispatch to ensure customer schedules are met. Be responsible for the supervision, training and evaluation of laboratory staff performance. Driving continual improvement in line with the do it once do it right focus. Responsible for staying up to date with changes in industry trends, standards and technological advancements relating to calibration. Managing the Work In Progress, and performance reports, generating weekly activity reports to be presented at senior management meetings. Be responsible for all HR matters relating to staff holidays and absence reporting.
Main Duties:
- Control of calibration laboratory work, calibration servicing and repair works in accordance with the specified skills matrix.
- Technical phone calls & emails.
- Delegation/control of daily workload (at head office laboratory only).
- Editing & approving procedures for engineers.
- Day-to-day supervision of head office laboratory team.
- Technical service support.
- Laboratory staff holiday cover.
- Day-to-day calibrations & repairs.
- Third party orders/ordering stock day by day.
- Laboratory cleanliness/housekeeping.
- Customer complaints.
- Oversee/control calibration assets.
- Signing of calibration certificates.
- UKAS calibrations (under direction of UKAS head of lab).
- Repair quotations.
Other Duties: As agreed with the company management team. Able to use, integrate etc. and control Transmille ProCal & ProCal Track systems.
