We’re looking for a passionate and talented individual to join the senior leadership team within Trent Rivers Trust. The role will work alongside our CEO as their principal operational partner. If you thrive in dynamic organisations and are motivated by supporting teams to deliver meaningful and lasting impact, we’d love to hear from you.
The role offers a unique and exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading rivers trusts and help shape the future of river restoration, natural flood management, biodiversity recovery and the engagement of people with rivers across the Trent Catchment.
Company Description: Trent Rivers Trust is an award-winning charity, that is now delivering our 2025-2030 business strategy. We believe the Trent has enormous potential for recovery, and 25 years of experience puts us in a position to play a leading role in the river becoming a vibrant lifeline for communities and wildlife. As a charity and member of the Rivers Trust movement, we do this by making a hands-on difference. We take a practical, level-headed approach and work closely with local communities, landowners, businesses, and government bodies to implement innovative projects dedicated to improving river health.
Over the last eight years, Trent Rivers Trust (TRT) has expanded rapidly. We went from eight members of staff to 25 and have hugely increased the scale of our projects. TRT delivers a variety of projects of different lengths and complexity and has four work areas: Land Use and Water, Connecting People and Rivers.
Role Description: This is a strategic and hands-on operational role overseeing organisational systems, supporting governance, HR, compliance, health & safety, programme management and internal operations. The role will also provide operational support to projects, ensuring they are delivered efficiently, on time, in line with organisational standards and meet contractual requirements.
In addition, the Operations Director will play a central role in supporting people and culture within the organisation. This includes overseeing recruitment, staff onboarding, performance management, and wellbeing initiatives, fostering a positive and inclusive working environment.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will contribute to organisational strategy, provide regular updates on programme delivery, and report to the Board of Trustees as required. The role will suit someone who thrives in dynamic organisations, enjoys problem-solving and optimising systems, understanding and making sense of complexity, and is motivated by supporting teams to deliver meaningful and lasting environmental impact.
Working closely with the CEO, the post holder will help create the capacity for the organisation to continue growing whilst maintaining the collaborative culture and values that define Trent Rivers Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced operational leader to join one of the UK's leading rivers trusts and help shape the future of river restoration, natural flood management, biodiversity recovery and the engagement of people with rivers across the Trent catchment.
