The predicted salary is between 14000 - 19600 £ per year.

£14,000 (£350/day x 40 days) plus an additional £1,400 to run the training sessions, over approx. 10 months from April 2026 to January/February 2027.

Trent Park House of Secrets is seeking to appoint a freelance Oral History Project Lead who will train and support our Volunteer Historians in collecting oral histories, ideally both in audio and video format, from Middlesex College alumni and local residents with family memories of the House.

Trent Park House, in Enfield, is recognised by Historic England as being of significance on a par with Bletchley Park. One of London’s grandest houses, it was home to the 'Secret Listeners' during World War II - a story that has remained hidden in the house for over 70 years. In the lead up to the War, Trent Park was home to Sir Philip Sassoon, a central figure of both British inter-war politics and the anti-Nazi movement who entertained many high-profile guests including King George V, Sir Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin and TE Lawrence. The House is currently being restored and will open as a new heritage attraction which will immerse visitors – including school groups – in these extraordinary histories.

You must have at least 3 years' experience of designing and delivering oral history programmes in a cultural setting and experience or education in public history and oral history projects. You will have up-to-date knowledge of best practice in gathering oral histories, including diversity and inclusion agendas. We are looking for someone who is able to provide training to others and who is self-motivated; able to think independently and take decisions appropriately.
