This role offers flexibility and creative delivery of specialist SaLT assessment and intervention to foster independence in an education setting. Role and Location
- Location: Trent Acres, Staffordshire DE13 7HR
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Contract: Permanent – 52 weeks
- Essential: Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
Responsibilities
- Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils within an education setting.
- Work collaboratively with the education team and follow the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to guide practice.
- Hold a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with the support of a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
- Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
- Maintain a person-centred, empowering approach with pupils, supporting their independence and development.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registered
- Registered with the RCSLT
- Relevant previous experience as a student SaLT or in a previously held job/placement
- Experience engaging and supporting individuals with complex communication profiles related to autism, cognitive differences/difficulties, and other diagnoses
- Awareness of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working in various settings
- Experience communicating with/working with families, relatives and carers
- Strong relationship-building, analytical and written/spoken communication skills
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards and core SaLT competencies
- Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types, and formulation of support plans
- Understanding of sensory and motor factors impacting communication
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and implications for clinical practice and professional management
- Basic IT skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Evidence of CPD and willingness to attend training and progress further qualifications
- Full driving license and access to a car
