Job Purpose

To carry out the maintenance, servicing, and repair of commercial gas & Plumbing systems and associated plant across a range of client sites. The role focuses on fulfilling planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance requirements under ongoing service contracts, ensuring systems remain safe, efficient, and compliant with statutory standards with occasional assistance on installation works as required.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on commercial gas-fired boilers, heating systems, and associated plant
  • Carry out fault diagnosis, repairs, and testing to ensure safe and efficient system operation
  • Perform tightness testing and purging in accordance with IGEM/UP/1 and UP/1A standards
  • Inspect, test, and maintain gas distribution pipework, burners, valves, and controls
  • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance and breakdown calls in line with contractual SLAs
  • Identify root causes of faults and implement effective, safe repairs
  • Record all findings, works completed, and any further remedial recommendations
  • Complete all required service records, job sheets, and compliance reports accurately and on time
  • Ensure all work complies with Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, HSE, and company procedures
  • Communicate effectively with clients, site representatives, and contract managers
  • Provide professional advice and support on system performance and upgrade options
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers and subcontractors on multi-discipline contracts

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • COCN1 / CCN1
  • CODNCO1
  • CDGA1, CIGA1, CORT1, ICPN1, TPCP1A (or equivalents)
  • Proven experience in commercial gas servicing and maintenance within commercial or industrial environments
  • Health & Safety training (CSCS)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • LPG, Catering, or COMCAT modules
  • F-Gas
  • Health & Safety training (PASMA, IPAF)
  • Excellent technical knowledge of gas systems and safety standards
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic ability
  • High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently
  • Commitment to safe working practices and compliance
  • Hours: 40 hours per week (plus overtime / call-out rota as required)
  • Travel: Regular travel to client sites (vehicle provided)
  • Environment: Commercial premises including offices, schools and industrial buildings
  • Company van and fuel card
