Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife passionate about reproductive healthcare? We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join our clinical team at the Birmingham Central unit. The role is part‑time, 20 hours per week, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
You will provide high‑quality clinical care across BPAS reproductive health services, including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception and vasectomy. You will be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation to treatment, working in the unit, theatre, recovery and providing clinical information both in person and over the phone.
You will be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) with active NMC registration and PIN. You should have at least 12 months of clinical practice experience, a keen interest in sexual health and reproductive care, and essential knowledge of safeguarding and Fraser/Gillick competencies. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, and you should be comfortable using IT and MS Office.
Main Duties
- Work in accordance with NMC guidelines, the Abortion Act 1967, the Health & Social Care Act and BPAS clinical policies.
- Ensure the client understands her options and that any termination meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
- Provide information on STI testing, undertake tests, deliver results and discuss contraception options.
- Implement procedures noted in client case notes, including administering medication for medical abortion or cervical preparation.
- Carry out post‑treatment check‑ups, assess physical condition and discuss concerns.
- Complete relevant paperwork and arrange referrals to NHS agencies if necessary.
- Support clients undergoing surgical treatments, including anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.

- Gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty (sexual health, contraception).
- Venepuncture and cannulation skills.

Working Pattern
