We are currently seeking a Retail Banking Lawyer to support clients on a range of consumer finance and retail banking matters. In this role, you will provide practical, commercially focused legal advice on consumer financial products, consumer credit, and retail banking regulation, working closely with retail banks, credit card issuers, mortgage lenders, and other financial institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice and support on consumer banking and consumer finance matters, including products such as loans, credit cards, mortgages, and BNPL (buy now, pay later) arrangements.
  • Advise on regulatory compliance and consumer protection frameworks, including the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (CCA), FCA Handbook, and Consumer Duty.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate consumer finance agreements, credit agreements, loan documentation, and customer terms and conditions.
  • Support the development and launch of consumer financial products and retail banking products, ensuring compliance with UK financial services regulation.
  • Conduct legal analysis and regulatory reviews to identify and mitigate risks relating to consumer lending, credit products, and retail banking activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer eligible to practice in the UK with the right to work in the UK.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on consumer banking, consumer credit, or retail financial services regulation.
  • Strong experience advising retail banks, credit card issuers, mortgage lenders, or consumer finance providers.
  • Experience drafting and advising on consumer finance documentation, including loan agreements, credit agreements, and consumer terms and conditions.
  • Strong commercial awareness, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to deliver pragmatic, business-focused legal advice in a regulated environment.
