Overview

In this role you own weekly and monthly payroll processes and ensure accuracy and compliance. You will collaborate with Finance, HR, and operations to deliver timely financial information and maintain controls. You’ll support reporting across headcount, cost recharges, and tax-related data, while contributing to process improvements. The position sits within a manufacturing environment, offering exposure to audits and VAT/Tax reporting. This is a hands-on role for a detail-oriented finance professional looking to grow in payroll and accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Own and run weekly and monthly payrolls, including the Time & Attendance system
  • Handle payroll-related queries and ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Post general ledger journals related to payroll
  • Produce monthly headcount and people-related reports
  • Recharge costs within the Group
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Assist with quarterly VAT returns
  • Analyze expenditure for Corporation Tax reporting requirements
  • Support monthly reporting and submission of results to the Group (material, purchasing, headcount, sustainability and people data reporting)
  • Support annual stocktakes and assist with audits
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll and finance processes

Key requirements

  • Experience in payroll, finance, or accounting environment
  • Ideally AAT qualified and/or actively studying towards ACCA, CIMA or similar
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft packages
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Efficient, proactive, highly organized with strong attention to detail
