About The Role

As the Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for leading the site maintenance function to ensure a safe, compliant and reliable working environment.

Your role provides leadership and technical support to the maintenance team, plans and prioritises preventative and reactive maintenance activity, manages asset care, critical spares and site maintenance assets, oversees machine shop maintenance support, and works closely with operational and engineering stakeholders to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime and support business performance.

You will also contributes to sustainability objectives by supporting energy monitoring, environmental compliance and performance improvement activity.

About Your Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop the maintenance team, including maintenance shift supervisors and maintenance personnel, ensuring clear priorities, safe working practices and effective communication.
  • Comply with, and promote compliance with, health and safety and environmental legislation, site standards and safe systems of work.
  • Develop, implement and review planned and preventative maintenance schedules to maintain machinery, equipment and site services.
  • Oversee reactive repairs and breakdown response to minimise downtime, restore production efficiently and protect product quality and customer service.
  • Own asset management activity, including equipment condition, maintenance records, critical spares, inspection routines and lifecycle planning.
  • Manage asset care standards and routines, ensuring machinery, equipment and site assets are maintained, inspected and improved in line with operational, safety and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee maintenance support for the machine shop, ensuring equipment availability, safe operation, effective repair response and alignment with production priorities.
  • Manage spare parts availability, stock levels and supplier relationships to support maintenance efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs and use data to drive performance, including equipment reliability, downtime, planned maintenance completion, repair response and budget control.
  • Drive continuous improvement and performance improvement activity by identifying root causes, improving maintenance processes and supporting operational excellence initiatives.
  • Support sustainability and environmental performance by contributing to energy monitoring, resource efficiency improvements and site environmental objectives.
  • Manage the maintenance budget, prioritise resources and ensure cost-effective delivery of maintenance activity.
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors and service providers to ensure safe, compliant and effective delivery of planned work, repairs and improvement projects.
  • Support equipment upgrades, modifications and project activity in collaboration with engineering, operations and other site functions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation, reports, risk-related records and performance data to support decision-making and compliance.
  • Develop emergency response plans for critical equipment situations and ensure lessons learned are embedded following significant breakdowns or incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with managers, departments and senior leaders on risks, priorities, progress, escalations and improvement opportunities.

What You Bring

  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent technical qualification in engineering, maintenance, manufacturing engineering or a related discipline is desirable.

Relevant experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.

  • Proven experience in maintenance leadership, reliability management or manufacturing engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of managing planned and reactive maintenance, contractor support, asset management, critical spares and maintenance performance measures.
  • Experience working with health and safety requirements, environmental standards, maintenance budgets and continuous improvement activity.
