We are looking for an experienced and motivated Production Team Leader to join our manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive leader who is passionate about people, safety, quality, and continuous improvement. In this role, you will be responsible for leading day-to-day production activities, ensuring products are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Working closely with the Production Manager, you will play a key role in driving operational performance, developing your team, and fostering a positive culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and manufacturing excellence.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Support the planning of the factory and stand in for Production Manager where vital.
- Responsible for achieving production KPI’s for factory and be able to demonstrate impacts on business performance and how to put improvements in place.
- Implement improvements to resolve issues affecting production.
- Plan labour for factory, raising resourcing concerns to the line manager when relevant and make appropriate suggestions to resolve the issues yourself first.
- Booking output from the production lines daily.
- Investigation and documentation of disciplinary and/or capability issues in accordance with Company policy.
- Monitor attendance and sickness levels for your area in line with company targets. Ensure Return to Work interviews are conducted within 24 hours of staff return; raising concerns to line manager and/or HR Manager where appropriate.
- Undertake appraisals and performance reviews when required, highlighting training and development needs and ensuring these are met.
- Ensure quality targets are met and take the lead in root cause analysis (RCA) events to understand cause and prevent re-occurrence.
- In conjunction with Production Engineers look to assist in standardisation and continuous improvement of manufacturing methods/processes.
- Responsible for opening and closing the factory as and when required.
- Promote lean manufacturing core principles that promote manufacturing excellence.
- Adhering to Customer and Industry Quality Standards.
- Foster an environment that encourages engagement, innovation, and teamwork.
Education and Experience:
- Relevant industry background in the manufacturing environment.
- Engineering or industry experience.
- Line Management Experience.
Personal Competencies:
This position calls for someone with excellent organisational and planning skills that is able to influence others and lead a team. Demonstrating experience in people management would be valuable. We would value a leader who shows a strong understanding of health and safety requirements and ensures that our safety-first culture is part of their team. Elements of the role will require strong 1 to 1 personal skills as well as delivering information to large groups, and we will be looking for experience with Microsoft Office such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
