Production Manager - Vacancy
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Production Manager to lead a production team at TSS Tewkesbury.
This is a key leadership role within our manufacturing operation. You will be responsible for ensuring that products are manufactured safely, efficiently, cost-effectively and on time, while consistently meeting the required quality standards.
You will oversee both production planning and day-to-day operational delivery, developing a flexible, self-reliant and high-performing team. Continuous improvement will be central to the role, so we are looking for someone who can apply lean tools effectively, use performance data to guide decisions and inspire others to work towards world-class manufacturing standards.
What you’ll be doing
As Production Manager, you will:
- Lead the team to deliver production safely, efficiently and in line with quality and customer requirements
- Ensure health and safety regulations, company policies and agreed working practices are followed
- Plan and organise production schedules, balancing capacity, resources and operational priorities
- Assess resource and project requirements to support effective production delivery
- Oversee production processes and respond decisively when schedules, priorities or resources need to change
- Work with the Senior Management Team to support the delivery of company goals
- Determine and maintain appropriate quality control standards
- Review and approve new-product bills of manufacturing
- Support budget planning and agree realistic timescales with relevant managers and customers
- Coordinate the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
- Analyse operational data and prepare clear production reports for managers and customers
- Monitor key measures including labour efficiency, schedule adherence, on-time delivery, scrap and right-first-time performance
- Lead, support and motivate the CPI team
- Review individual and team performance, identifying development and training needs
- Work collaboratively with Maintenance, Customer Services, Finance, Quality, Production Engineering, Planning, HR and Operations.
What we’re looking for
You will have:
- Substantial production management experience within a fast-moving manufacturing or production environment
- A strong understanding of quality standards and health and safety regulations
- Experience of monitoring and reporting key production metrics
- Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting principles
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and ERP systems
- Production planning experience, although this is desirable rather than essential
- A sound understanding of lean manufacturing tools and continuous improvement principles.
