Here at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, in Rotherham, we are proud to manufacture Orkot bearings and wear rings. Orkot is the world\’s leading brand in composite bearing material for wear resistant bearings under high load. With over 60 years’ experience in composite bearings, our Rotherham facility provides a full service, from engineering concept to delivery of a bearing solution for specialist markets such as marine, hydro & tidal power.
We have a vacancy for an apprentice trained CNC 5 Axis Miller to join our team and work in the Cells area of our manufacturing facility in Rotherham.
Hours of work
This position is 38 hours per week on a rotating 2-shift system of earlies and lates, Monday – Friday (38 hours) and shift allowance is paid on the late shift.
The Company operates shift patterns as set out below. The Company reserves the right to allocate you to any of these patterns or to any other pattern of hours of working (including day hours) having given you reasonable notice.
The hours of work at Rotherham vary according to the Shift you are allocated:
A SHIFT:
(Earlies): 6 am to 2 pm Monday to Friday
(Lates): 2 pm to 11 pm Monday to Thursday
B SHIFT
(Earlies): 6 am to 2 pm Monday to Thursday and from 6 am to 12 pm on a Friday
(Lates): 2 pm to 12 am Monday to Wednesday and from 2 pm to 10 pm on a Thursday
A five-day working week is in operation.
Main Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the CNC 5 Axis Miller are to produce high-quality precision parts in the high-volume CNC section according to specifications and engineering drawings, ensuring on-time delivery of products while maintaining high levels of efficiency and minimising downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Assigned to Soraluce machine(s) to set in a safe, effective and efficient manner, whilst maintaining precision, accuracy & quality at all times.
- Work alongside the Operators to achieve and uphold the required output from the machine(s) in order to maintain schedule and achieve targeted delivery dates.
- Carry out routine maintenance and housekeeping duties within their capability level or in case of difficulty or anticipated delay, advise the Production Supervisor.
- Carry out additional duties as requested by the department Production Supervisor.
Required Capabilities
- Knowledge of setting CNC 5 Axis vertical milling machines is critical.
- Must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience with setting and operating CNC Mills.
- Must have knowledge of at least one of the following controls: Fanuc and Heidenheim
- Proven skills including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs
- Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings
- Ability to work to tight tolerances and deadlines.
- Experience with gauges and inspection equipment along with interpretation of metrology reports and analysis, ideally including GD&T.
Objectives
- Setting within the 5-axis machine shop, using a variety of 5-Axis vertical mills.
- Working as part of a team to maximise output and efficiency whilst working towards departmental KPIs.
