Role Description
The Private Hire Driver role is a full-time, on-site position based in Tonypandy. The driver will safely transport clients to and from their destinations in accordance with scheduled bookings and company standards. Day-to-day tasks include planning routes, collecting passengers on time, assisting with luggage when needed, and ensuring vehicles are kept clean, presentable, and roadworthy. The driver will provide professional, courteous customer service and handle a variety of journeys, including local trips, longer-distance travel, and rail replacement work. The role may involve flexible working hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, depending on operational needs.
Qualifications
- Valid UK driving licence with appropriate categories for private hire and, where applicable, minibus driving; clean driving record and strong road safety awareness.
- Previous professional driving or private hire experience, with confident navigation skills and familiarity with routes across south east Wales and beyond.
- Excellent customer service skills, including polite communication, a professional manner, and the ability to support diverse clients and their specific journey needs.
- Good time management and reliability, with the ability to follow schedules, adapt to changing requirements, and work flexible hours.
- Basic vehicle care skills, including carrying out routine checks, reporting maintenance issues, and keeping vehicles clean and presentable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive, hands-on approach to each journey.
- Right to work in the UK; private hire or PSV licence and local authority/private hire certification are highly beneficial.
- Experience in rail replacement or transport services is an advantage but not essential; training can be provided for suitable candidates.
