ACCOUNTS APPRENTICE Salary: £18,200 (rising throughout the apprenticeship) Location: Approximately 8 miles from Truro, Cornwall Vacancy listed: 07/02/2025 Application deadline: 21/02/2025 About Us The Tregothnan Estate is a private family home with a world-renowned botanical garden and woodland. The Estate has a team of maintenance, gardening, forestry and, joinery employees that maintain the core estate and manage the beautiful surroundings which are on the edge of the River Fal. The Estate also has a substantial portfolio of residential, commercial, and agricultural properties and in-hand farming businesses.   Through its day-to-day running, the Estate produces tea (the only UK-grown blend), honey and jam, which are sold by our trading team; delivers experiences including Garden and Tea Tasting Tours; and rents holiday accommodation. The Estate is diverse in its activities and the job roles it provides. The teams have a great community spirit, the surroundings are inspiring, and the work is always interesting. Working at Tregothnan is being part of Cornwall’s heritage and its modern future. The Role This is a fantastic opportunity for someone wishing to develop a career in Accounts. You will learn to process financial transactions for the Accounts Team, working within a busy and friendly office, whilst studying for an AAT Level 2 qualification.   Duties include:  – Processing receipts on the sales ledger. – Reconciling the sales ledger and working on trade debtors. – Inputting and issuing purchase orders. – Assisting with processing invoices onto the purchase ledger. – Ordering items on behalf of the company as required, e.g. stationery, equipment, hotel bookings, etc. – Administration of the Accounts email inbox. – Assisting with banking, and administration of utility invoices and recharges processes.   The position is initially on a 2-year fixed-term contract. On successful completion of the Apprenticeship, there will be the opportunity to progress into the role of Accounts Assistant and study for AAT Levels 3 and 4.   About You You will need:   – 5 GCSEs, including Level 4 Maths and English. – A willingness to study for and the ability to achieve AAT Level 2 by the completion of the Apprenticeship. – Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and attention to detail. – Good IT skills, including Excel, Word and Outlook. – Good communication skills, a professional attitude, politeness and good levels of personal presentation. – Excellent timekeeping. – A flexible and positive attitude and a willingness to work occasional weekends to assist with stock takes and events. – The ability to maintain confidentiality. – The ability to work alone and as part of a team. – A full UK driving licence and your own transport to travel to and from work, as we are in a rural location with no access to public transport. If you currently do not have a car or cannot drive, you would need to be committed to learning how to drive and having access to your own transport, as well as having a very reliable lift to and from work.
