About Tree Aid

Tree Aid works across the drylands of Africa, in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali, Niger and Senegal, where the climate crisis is shrinking fertile land and putting pressure on the lives of more than 300 million people. In these regions, trees are a lifeline and we partner with local communities to grow millions of them each year and to protect the land they depend on. Every project is led by the people who know their environment best, helping trees take root, supporting lasting livelihoods and protecting vital ecosystems.

About the role

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, results-driven finance professional with experience in charity project finance. You will work closely with UK colleagues and overseas teams across the Sahel to maintain robust financial management, support the development of financial systems, and enhance reporting and procedures. Your expertise will contribute to strengthening financial oversight and efficiency, enabling the organisation to deliver transformational change for vulnerable communities living on the front lines of the climate crisis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support transformational change for some of the world’s poorest people. Working within the Finance and Resources team, the Project Finance Manager’s main tasks will be to:

  • Provide the wider team with reliable and timely financial information and analysis of project finances with recommendations for actions.
  • Develop project budgets and monitor performance against them.
  • Provide oversight of and support to Tree Aid’s overseas entities in financial reporting, systems, audits, procedures and resources.
  • Ensure that Tree Aid’s subsidiaries follow organisational and donor policies.
  • Ensure the integrity of Tree Aid subsidiaries’ financial records and internal controls.

About you

To be successful as the Project Finance Manager you will have:

  • A recognised accounting qualification, or be working towards one.
  • Experience of working in international development.
  • High level computer literacy.
  • Experience of working with budgets and reports for institutional and other donors.
  • A willingness to travel and ability to work to tight deadlines.

Benefits

  • A contributory pension scheme (you contribute at least 2% and we will contribute 6%)
  • 33 days annual leave (inc public holidays) +1 day per year worked up to 38 days
  • Quarterly social events
  • Opportunity to take free weekly French lessons to support communication with our colleagues in West Africa
