The European Procurement Manager is responsible for the procurement of all raw materials for the European business. Leading a team of buyers who will source a portfolio of products from a global supply base. Identifying new suppliers, forging and nurturing relationships, developing cost-reduction initiatives, reviewing and maintaining optimum stock levels, and mitigating supply and quality risks. Ensuring a sustainable and ethical supply of key raw materials, recognising and adhering to current and future global regulatory and sustainability requirements. Providing regular and proactive communication to all stakeholders and suppliers, including real-time market updates and innovative solutions to supply challenges and risks. Having the ability to leverage key supplier relationships and capabilities to support and accelerate business growth and improve margins. Bringing a solution-based hands-on approach to supply challenges, ranging from natural variation to wider macro factors. Prioritising continuity of supply to maximise customer and internal stakeholder service levels.

What you’ll be doing: The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Build strong raw material technical knowledge and deep understanding of raw material markets.
  • Maintain awareness of market factors and material supply issues/opportunities, identify and mitigate supply and/or quality risk and promptly communicate pertinent information to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to current and future global sustainability regulations and drive supplier initiatives to meet Treatt’s sustainability objectives and timelines.
  • Visit suppliers and customers where necessary and attend industry events, which will involve international travel. Building and developing strong working relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • Develop, manage, and implement strategic sourcing strategies, leveraging cross-functional knowledge and expertise to deliver value to the business.
  • Utilise all resources and systems available, including JDE, to maintain optimal levels of inventory and ensure continuity of supply, maximising customer service levels.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports. Setting department objectives and KPI’s to drive performance in line with business strategy.
  • Perform such other tasks as are consistent with the general role description and job title, which may be subject to change.

What we’re looking for: Commercial mindset with a strong focus on providing the best possible service to our customers, both internal and external. Proven experience dealing with high value contracts. Ability to interpret and manage complex data. In-depth understanding of supply & demand fundamentals, market dynamics and price forecasting. Experience sourcing from a global supply base and international logistics. Strong technical knowledge relevant to respective categories and portfolio of products. Competent international traveller. Experience of working within the Flavour & Fragrance industry and citrus markets.

Desirable Criteria: Knowledge of sustainable and ethical sourcing and global regulations. A good understanding and experience of using systems in which we operate (JDE, Microsoft Office). CIPS level 4 or higher.
