We are hiring an experienced Recycling Manager to support the leadership of a high-volume waste management and recycling facility in Blackburn.
Location: Blackburn
Salary: £33,000 - £35,000 + Bonus + Benefits
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday 07:00-16:30 (Flexibility required during peak periods, including occasional Saturdays)
Overview
You will take ownership of site performance, team leadership, and compliance. Playing a key role in delivering operational efficiency, health & safety compliance, and continuous improvement, reporting to the Site Manager.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver site KPIs, including throughput, revenue, and cost control
- Lead and develop operational teams to improve productivity and performance
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety (HSE), Environmental, and Waste Regulations
- Conduct daily and weekly Health & Safety audits
- Manage all aspects of Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Employment Rights Act 1996 compliance
- Monitor plant and equipment performance, driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage housekeeping, site standards, and safety culture
- Ensure accurate reporting, including DAL and all site documentation
- Maintain full environmental and company policy compliance
- Monitor incoming and outgoing product quality throughout the day
- Oversee and optimise cutting line performance, identifying improvement opportunities
- Conduct perimeter checks, ensuring site cleanliness and security; arrange repairs or clean-ups as needed
- Manage and reduce site waste
- Ensure quality control of outgoing product and baling/separation processes
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience managing teams, KPIs, and operational performance
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- IT literate (Microsoft Office / reporting systems)
Desirable
- Experience in recycling or waste management environment
- WAMITAB qualification (or willingness to obtain training and support can be provided for the right candidate)
- FLT licence
