The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Multi-Trade Maintenance Technician to join a busy property team, working across a portfolio of commercial and occupied buildings throughout London. This is a fully hands-on role and would suit an experienced multi-trader who is confident working independently and can turn their hand to a wide range of maintenance and building works. The ideal candidate will be particularly strong in carpentry and partition/stud-wall work, alongside general building maintenance, plumbing, decorating and making-good. You’ll be working five days per week on a self-employed basis, providing ongoing support to the property team and taking ownership of repairs and maintenance across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across commercial and occupied properties.
- Complete carpentry and joinery works, including doors, frames, skirting, architraves, ironmongery and general timber repairs.
- Construct and repair timber and/or metal stud partitions, including setting out, framing, plasterboarding and making good.
- Undertake first and second-fix carpentry.
- Complete minor plumbing repairs, including leaks, taps, toilets, sinks, wastes and associated pipework.
- Carry out plasterboard repairs, patching and general making-good.
- Complete painting and decorating to a high standard.
- Undertake tiling, silicone/mastic work and other finishing repairs.
- Carry out general building-fabric maintenance and minor external repairs where required.
- Diagnose faults and determine the appropriate repair or remedial action.
- Work independently and manage jobs from initial assessment through to completion.
- Liaise professionally with building teams, occupiers and other contractors.
- Keep work areas safe, clean and presentable.
- Identify when specialist contractors are required and support their access where necessary.
- Complete maintenance records, job updates and photographs accurately.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is genuinely multi-trade, rather than someone whose experience is predominantly in one discipline. You should have:
- Strong hands-on experience in carpentry/joinery.
- Proven experience constructing stud walls/partitions - this is an important part of the role.
- Good knowledge of first and second-fix carpentry.
- Practical plumbing and general maintenance experience.
- Good decorating and finishing skills.
- Experience working within commercial, residential, hospitality or other occupied environments.
- The ability to diagnose problems and work independently.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
- A professional approach when working around customers, clients and building occupants.
- Your own tools suitable for multi-trade maintenance.
- The ability to commit to five days per week.
- Self-employed status / ability to work on a self-employed basis.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be highly desirable.
Desirable Qualifications
- CSCS
- IPAF
- PASMA
- Asbestos Awareness
- Working at Height
- First Aid
- Relevant carpentry, joinery or building qualifications
Why Apply?
This is a great opportunity for an experienced multi-trader looking for consistent, ongoing work five days a week, rather than ad-hoc contracting. You’ll have the opportunity to become a key part of the maintenance team, working across a varied portfolio and using your full range of practical skills. If you’re a hands-on multi-trader who takes pride in doing a job properly and can confidently work across carpentry, stud partitions, plumbing, decorating and general building maintenance, we’d love to hear from you.
